Comments: This checkerboard-spotted autumn crocus is probably a cross between C. variegatum and C. autumnale and does not occur naturally. It produces leaves in the spring and flowers in the fall with several flowers from one bulb. Colchicum's poison, colchicine, is used in the treatment of gout.
