Tulipa (Double Late Group) 'Orange Princess'

Tulipa (Double Late Group) 'Orange Princess'
.
Family: Liliaceae (Leliefamilie)
Distribution: Horticulture
Comments: Double-flowered tulips have much fuller flowers than is natural for tulips. Normally, the flower head of tulips and other plants in the lily family consists of six petals, but in these cultivars it is at least double that number. This gives these full tulips an almost peony-like appearance. However, if you look inside the flower, you soon see that you are not dealing with this. Peonies have many more and different looking stamens than tulips.
